I have SMA Type 3. I have been in a wheelchair since age 12. For the past few years, I needed to pay and schedule people to help me go to the bathroom every day. My independence, job, and finances were tied to needing someone else.
Prior to using EZ-P, I had a lot of anxiety when outside my house. It was constantly on my mind — how long do I have to go without drinking fluids, where is the bathroom, is it large enough for me and my caregiver, are there grab bars for a safe transfer? With this cushion, I don't have to worry about an inaccessible public bathroom or having an accident. I have greater independence outside my home.
I was spending hours every day helping my daughter. Now it's 5 minutes total — install in the morning, remove at night. That's it. I have so much more time in life.
My sisters would intentionally limit how much they drank to avoid needing assistance in restrooms. Now they no longer restrict their fluid intake, and they have the freedom to go wherever they want. It has truly changed the lives of our entire family.
This is a great product! I've seen it in use and I believe it truly helps patients and caregivers. This is a much needed product!
